Position Description The Loader Operator is responsible for the operation of large scale loaders, skid steers, man lifts and dump truck to manufacture high quality Hot Mix Asphalt at continuous mixing drum plants. Position also includes maintenance on all components of the asphalt plant and preventive maintenance of the equipment.Position also includes directing inbound trucks and housekeeping of the yard.
Responsibilities: - During a pre-production meeting and throughout the workday this position is directed by the Plant Operator on a daily basis.
- Inbound material management
- Pre-production equipment review and preventive maintenance, verify equipment is ready for operation
- Assisting in management of spare parts inventory, especially critical spares
- Performing all corrective and preventive maintenance activities as directed by the Plant Operator
- Communication with all plant personnel to work as a team
- Daily operation of the loader, skid steer or dump truck
- During plant down situations, assisting in the repair process as directed by the plant operator
- Minimizing waste
- Maintaining all environmental requirements for the plant grounds
- Meeting all safety requirements (including toolbox talks, man lift inspections, submitting incident reports, Lockout/Tag out, Confined Space entry, PPE, etc.)
- Maintaining plant and yard housekeeping
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements Skills: - Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
- Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient use of computer software, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Education/Experience: - High School Diploma
- 2-5 years of aggregate material handling experience, or in a related field
- Experience in asphalt or aggregate plants is preferred
Work Environment/Physical Abilities: The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Loader Operator functions.
