How to Total the Numbers in Your Birth Date and Birth Name for Use in Pythagorean Numerology

To calculate the birth date number:

You need to add the digits in the birth date (month, day and year) and reduce it to a single digit. For example, if someone was born on March 23, 1995, their birth date number would be calculated as follows:

03 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 32

This compound Number needs to be reduced to a simple number ranging from 1-9:

3 + 2 = 5

So, the birth date number for this person would be Birth Force Number 9.

To calculate the total number of the birth name:

You need to assign a numerical value to each letter in the birth name (according to a specific numerology system) and add them together. For example, using the Pythagorean numerology system, the numerical value of each letter is as follows:

A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, D = 4, E = 5, F = 6, G = 7, H = 8, I = 9, J = 1, K = 2, L = 3, M = 4, N = 5, O = 6, P = 7, Q = 8, R = 9, S = 1, T = 2, U = 3, V = 4, W = 5, X = 6, Y = 7, Z = 8.

Using the example birth name “John Smith,” the numerical value of each letter would be:

J + O + H + N = 1 + 6 + 8 + 5 = 20

S + M + I + T + H = 1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 24

20 + 24 = 44

So, the total number of the birth name for this person would be 44.

Now you need to reduce the compound number 44 to a simple number ranging from 1-9:

4 + 4 = 8.

So this person has Potential Number 8.

If you have one or more middle names they should also be included in the Birth Name calculation.

Note: If any of the final calculations add up to 11, 22 or 33 these numbers are known as Master Numbers. They are rarely expressed as 2, 4 or 6. However, you must also remember that they do contain those vibrations as well.
